古诗词中的地名不仅是一种地理符号,更是一种表达历史文化内涵,反映诗人情感和抒情言志的手段。三峡地名因其地理和历史背景的特殊性,在英译过程中传达的历史文化和意象略异于其它古诗中的地名,但更多的是反映古诗地名英译的共性,从中可窥见英译古诗中地名处理的一斑。

Place names in ancient poems are not merely geographical symbols,but also means to convey historical and cultural connotation,as well as the poet＇s feelings and ambitions.Due to unique geographical and historical background of the Three Gorges,although the place names may reflect somewhat different images from those reflected in other ancient poems,they certainly reflect the commonness of image translation of ancient poems.Thereby,the image translation of place names can be known by a handful of the wholes sack.
