A New Interpretation of the Character Image in Journey to the West

人的一生就如同一部《西游记》,唐僧师徒这四个性格不同的人物形象所演绎的生命状态可以被解读为一个人生命历程中四个阶段的不同特质。孙悟空代表人童年时的童真和青少年时的桀骜不驯;猪八戒代表人初入社会时奋斗受挫后的退缩及贪图一时的享乐与安逸;沙僧代表人到中年时的成熟与稳重;唐僧代表人老年时的超越名利与对生死的淡然。从这四个人的身上,我们看到了一个人生命中不同阶段的影子,他们共同构成一部个人生命发展史。

Human life is similar to a volume of Journey to the West.The life condition,deduced by Tang Seng Priest and his disciples of different disposition,can be explained as the four stages in one＇s life.Sun Wukong is representative of one＇s naive childhood and unruly teenagers period while Zhu Bajie of the shrink back from struggle when stepping into the society.And Sha Seng is the symbol of mature and steady in middle age while Tang Seng of surmounting fame and fortune and indifference to life and death.From the four,we can see the shadows of different stages in one＇s life which destined to be experienced and build up the history of one＇s life development.
