赵树理是现当代文学流派"山药蛋派"的开创者,以其巨大的文学成就被称为现代小说的"铁笔"、"圣手",在现代文学史上占有重要地位。其作品不论题材,人物形象塑造,还是艺术表现手法,都以深厚的民俗文化为背景,表现出鲜明的民族化风格。

Zhao Shuli is the founder of the Potato School,one of the modern and contemprary literature schools.He is regarded as the ＂Tiebi＂ and ＂Shengshou＂ owing to his great achievements in the field of modern novels.One of the reasons for his success is that he is deeply rooted in the culture of his hometown which lies in the southeast of Shanxi province.He is quite familiar with the country life and loves the people so much.He describes a great deal of particular folk customs or he uses these as the culture background of his novels,or as the measures to build up the image of characters,to expose the psychology of characters,and to advance the development of characters disposotion,all of which shows distinctive folk style of his novels.
