洋务巨擘盛宣怀的生前身后——兼论历史人物的评价问题

On Evaluation of Sheng Xuanhuai——A Giant in Period of Modernization Movement of China

盛宣怀是清末著名的官僚、实业家,观其投身洋务,力行新政,经世致用,不可谓无功;但因其多钱善贾,积累巨资,及推行铁路国有政策,又屡招清议抨击。其身后声誉,更是褒贬不一。在其评价上,史学界与时浮沉,无所建树,委实折射出历史学的流弊。

Sheng Xuanhuai,a famous bureaucrat and industrialist,made a great success during the process of the early modernization movement in the late Qing Dynasty of China.He was always attacked by public,because he accumulated enormous wealth and enforced the policy concerning state-owned railway when he served the government of Qing Dynasty.After his death,there is a big difference in the evaluation on him.It was very pity for some historians not to give him an impartial appraisal.This was really a great shortcoming of history in the contemporary China.
