摘要
Basic research related to heavy ion cancer therapy has been done at IMP since 1995. Now a plan of patient clinical trial with heavy ions is started up at IMP. First, shallow-seated tumor therapy is expected to be realized in the therapy terminal at the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL), where 100 MeV/u 12C ion beam can be supplied. After the construction of the key national scientific project HIRFL-Cooling Storage Ring (HIRFL-CSR) is finished, high-energy carbon ion beam will be applied to treat tumors anywhere in the body in the planned therapy terminal at HIRFL-CSR.
