Tang People's Understanding of the Political Function of Music and Its Significance

在中国古代,音乐的政治功能因为儒家而倍受重视,但人们在接受儒家音乐思想时却对此产生了误解,将具有政治功能的音乐等同于政治。直到唐代,这种误解才被纠正,代表人物有唐太宗与白居易等,他们认为政治是国家治乱的根本,音乐只是其辅助手段。唐人对音乐政治功能的正确认知,有利于促进唐代音乐的繁荣。

In ancient china,the political function of music was emphasized because of the Confucian.However,there were misunderstanding while accepting Confucian theory of music,say they took the political function of music as politics.The mistake didn＇t corrected until Tang dynasty with the representatives such as Tang Taizong,Bai Juyi and so on.They believed that politics was the root of administration while music was only an assistant tool.Their correct understanding on the political function of music contributed to the prosperous time of music.
