判定社会进步的标尺是指衡量社会进步与否或良性发展与否的标准。它主要遵循:生产力与生产关系的发展是否适应、经济基础与上层建筑的发展是否适应、社会发展与自然发展是否适应、贫富差别是在不断扩大还是缩小、社会和谐程度是不断提高还是不断下降等五项原则。他们相互影响,相互促进,直接反映社会进步的本质、内容、发展趋势、要求以及规律。

The rod that determines social progress refers to the standard which measures whether the society makes progress and virtuous development or not.It mainly abides by five main principles as follows： whether the development of productive forces is adapting to that of production relations or not;whether the development of economic base is adapting to that of super structure or not;whether the development of society is adapting to that of the nature or not;whether richpoor gap is widening or narrowing;whether the level of social harmony is rising or falling constantly,etc.They affect and promote each other,reflecting the essence,content,trends,requirements and law of social progress directly.
