论《京华烟云》的翻译性写作及其得失

林语堂《京华烟云》的写作过程是独特的,可以称其为"翻译性写作",这一写作特征从小说中的人物名字与称谓、文化词汇与谚语、古典诗文引用等几个方面都能够得到印证。小说将中文里较具本土文化特色的信息资料和事件利用特有的表达方式展现给西方读者,使得文本在符合西方读者的阅读习惯的基础上还能保留独特的中国文化意味。但是,林语堂还是无法完美逾越中西文化、语言间的差异,他对某些中国文化内蕴的表达还是有所缺失。

The writing process of Moment in Peking by Lin Yutang is peculiar,which could be called ＂translation writing＂.This writing feature is confirmed by the names and appellations of characters,culturally-loaded words and proverbs,and the quotes of Chinese classical poems in the novel.Translation writing takes both usual practices in Chinese expression and comprehensive abilities of western readers into account.In this way,it enables the novel to not only correspond with western readers＇ reading habits,but also retain Chinese cultural characteristics.However,Lin Yutang failed to coordinate the diversities between different cultures and languages perfectly,which inevitably left deficiencies in the manifestation of Chinese cultural immanence.
