简要介绍了地理信息系统的概念,分析了传统城市规划方法的不足及G IS数据模型在城市规划中的优势,并针对地理信息系统在城市规划设计中应用的问题进行了探讨,以期指导城市规划设计工作中更加合理、高效地应用地理信息系统技术。

This paper briefly introduces the concept of GIS （ Geographic Information System ） , analyzes the disadvantages of traditional urban planning methods and the advantages of GIS data model in urban planning, and discusses on the application of GIS in urban planning and design, with a view to guide the rather rational and efficient application of GIS in urban planning and design.
