Historicism is not merely a type of methodology. It is supported by a profound conception of history. The historical materialist solution to its methodology problem does not stay at the methodological level either. Historical materialism has resorted to the ＂theory of limited objectives＂ of human perceptual activities to solve the historicist dilemma of ＂having to rely on God＂. Thus, the fundamental problem of historicism about the significance of history is solved.
