The Existentialism in Martin Eden is analyzed, which is the autobiographical "Bildungsroman" of Jack London. It is considered that, the novel demonstrates the shattered American Dream in terms of free choice and intervention disillusion;reflects harsh human survival struggle and alienation in industrial civilization.Existentialism holds a flat picture of painful human life and imperfect reality, while Jack London faces life and never avoids exploring the subject of death, regarding the horrible life as the source of his horrible novel.
