Hu Jintao's Thought on Social Protection

自中共十六大以来,胡锦涛同志结合中国国情,始终把建立和完善社会保障体系放在突出的位置。在新时期,面对新情况、新问题,他提出要建立与经济发展水平相适应的社会保障体系,实现经济社会协调发展,并通过构建公平正义的制度安排,确保人人享有社会保障,建立健全社会保障体系,解决落实民生难题。他强调要以科学发展观为指导,实现城乡社会保障的统筹。胡锦涛的社会保障思想具有鲜明的理论特色,对于社会保障体系朝着科学、健康的方向发展具有引导作用。

Since the 16th CPC National Congress, Secretary General HuJintao has been paying great attention to the establishment of a sound social protection system in accordance with the specific situation of current China. Confronted with new circumstances and new problems in the new period, he proposes to formulate a social protection system in conformity with domestic economic development and coordinate e- conomy with social development. He hopes that we can restore social justice, ensure everyone in society of social protection, and help people out of daily difficulties by perfecting that social protection system. To achieve that goal, he emphasizes, we should strive to realize the coordinated development of social protection in urban and rural areas under the guidance by the Outlook of Scientific Development. With remarka- ble theoretic features of its own, Hu＇s thought on social protection is of great help in developing the domestic social protection system in a scientific and healthy way.
