多元诠释和多元载体是西方民族音乐学学科定位的两个基点,前者是学科奠基成型的构架依据,后者是学科发展,壮大的理论条件,两者的结合,旨在特定社会语境里探讨人类音乐行为的文化意义,这种探讨即是"文化中的音乐研究。"
Plural interpretations and plural tools are two bases for an orientation in the discipline of ethnomusicology of the West. The former is referred to as a structural institution in shaping a disciplinary foundation, and the latter a theoretical condition in securing a disciplinary development. These two aim at exploring cultural meanings in human behavior through music. This exploration is " the study of music in culture"
