Study on the Art of Synonymic Selection in Complete Translation-Taking the Chinese Translation of "It is better X than Y" as an Example

全译主要解决语际意一言多的问题,全译经过理解、转换之后进入表达阶段。表达重在译语意一形多的同义选择,首先是语言同义选择,其次是言语同义选择,一般都经过原语意义与译语形式之间的表里反复互证,再经语用观照和文化统摄,最终确定恰当的译文,全译艺术尽显其中。

Complete translation mainly approaches the interlingual problem of the same meaning expressed in different forms.In the process of complete translation,following the stages of comprehension and transformation,expression lays emphasis on the synonymic selection in the target language,firstly in terms of langue and secondly in terms of parole.A cross-reference is invariably conducted at several turns between the meaning in the source language and the form in the target language,and through pragmatic examination and cultural explanation so as to produce an appropriate version.As a natural result,the art of synonymic selection demonstrates itself in complete translation.
