摘要
基于作者在美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校ESL教学中心近一个学期的课堂观摩、教师访谈、学生问卷调查等活动,本文从教学、教师及教材3个角度对该中心的英语教学理念及模式进行了深入细致的分析。文章指出,明确的教学定位、以人为本的教学理念、专业的师资队伍及高质量的教材是保障英语教学成功的4大要素。在此基础上文章结合我国高校英语教学现状,进一步阐释了美国英语教学对我国高校英语教学的启示。
Based on one semester's classroom observation, interviews and questionnaire surveys among the teachers and students at the ESL Center, University of Wisconsin - Madison, this paper gives a detailed analysis of the center's English teaching theories and modes. It points out that clear objectives, student-oriented teaching theories, professional teaching staff and high-quality learning materials are the major factors guaranteeing the successful English teaching. The paper further provides some enlightenment for college English teaching in China.
