摘要
1938年诺贝尔文学奖得主赛珍珠,因书写中国而一举成名,并受到美国电影界的多次青睐。好莱坞改编赛珍珠作品的历程,在某种程度上契合了赛珍珠研究在中国及世界范围内所经历的波折。赛珍珠的中国题材小说在20世纪30、40年代频频被搬上美国银幕,在很大程度上纠正了昔日西方对中国人笼统而模糊的认识。冷战时期,赛珍珠依然活跃在好莱坞,其对中国的失真描写加深了资本主义阵营对中国的错误认识。在经济文化全球化的国际大背景中,赛珍珠重新进入电影人的视野,再次证明其小说之魅力所在。在中国元素成为好莱坞制胜法宝之一的时代,关注赛珍珠与电影的关系,有助于更深层地了解和解读这位以书写中国题材小说而闻名于世的美国作家。
The 1938 Nobel Prize laureate Pearl S. Buck is well known for her vivid portrayal of Chinese people. In the 1930s and 1940s, her China novels have been frequently adapted into Hollywood films, which help western people know China well. During the period of Cold War, Buck, whose false portrayal of China deepens its twisted image, participates the anti-communist film making. In 21st century, Buck＇s charming story about China attracts Hollywood once again. Moreover, Buck＇s close relation with world cinema can bee seen in Japan, India and Hong Kong.
