葛洲坝电厂２１ 台机组安装４ 种型号的调速器， 其中２１ 号机组的调速器是引进的。这几种调速器自１９８１年投运以来都不同程度的存在一些问题； 在当时条件下， 只进行过一些局部的改进。１９９０ 年以后， 国内调速器的技术水平有了很大的进步， 已成功地研制出多种机型， 因此， 葛洲坝电厂对２１ 台调速器全部进行了改造。改造后的调速器其电气部分全部采用微机机型或可编程型； 机械部分有１４ 台成功地用步进电机取代了电液转换器。经过运行考验， 证明改造后的机型结构简单、稳定性好、可靠性高、抗干扰性强， 控制功能齐全， 动态品质优良，
