For the first time, Jiang Lan＇s monograph History of Tang Poetry Propagation to the West： With a Focus on Tang Poetry Propagation to Britain and the United States divides the history of Tang poetry propagation to the West into three historical peri- ods according to two important cultural phenomena the publication of Cathay and the founding of the Tang Studies Socie- ty--and makes an in-depth study into the misinterpretations of the text and the back translation of the Tang poems. The discussion is set in the background of multiple cultures and the authors makes a detailed description of the history of Tang poetry propagation to the West on the basis of his profound understanding of the charm of British and American poems and songs. The book integrates the Western culture and the Chinese culture, demonstrating the author＇s in-depth reflections, clear discrimination, and academic originality. Therefore, it is an important monograph in the study of the spreading of the poems in the Tang Dynasty com- prehensively and systematically.
