探析原型理论在大学英语词汇教学中的运用

This article introduces the formation and development of the prototype theory briefly.It discusses how to apply the prototype theory to the English vocabulary teaching so that the students＇ interests and confidence can be enhanced.In the author＇s opinion,the basic English words should be taught in class and special attention should be paid to the polysemous words and their metaphorical extension usage.The teacher should teach the students how to learn the English vocabulary based on their cognitive ability and how to find the difference and connection between the prototypical meanings and non-prototypical meanings of the words.By this way,more vocabulary can be mastered and remembered easily.
