Nominalization of Grammatical Metaphor and Interpretation

韩礼德指出名词化是创造隐喻最有力的方式,名词化把本采表示过程或属性的动词,动词词组或形容词、形容词词组或小句转化为名词或名词词组,改变了本来的表达方式,产生了与本来意义不同的新的意义导致了隐喻式的产生。但同时也为正确充分理解其本来意义带来了障碍。

In Halliday＇s opinion,nominalization is the single most powerful resource for creating grammatical metaphor.However,there is typically some loss of information in clauses in the processing of nominalization,which results in the difficulties having a full understanding of nominalization clauses.This paper first investigates the different means of nominalization,and then its roles in metaphor and presupposition.At last,it investigates the difficulties in understanding of those clauses and possible solutions.
