以奥巴马从2007年2月宣布参选至2008年11月取得竞选胜利过程中的若干公共演说为文本,深入探讨奥巴马是如何利用修辞人格,巧妙化解竞选中的不利因素,最终取得以修辞符号战胜传统政治的胜利。
Aristotle regards ethos—one of his three artistic proofs—as a fundamental means of persuasion.This thesis intends to discuss how Obama made full use of ethos to overcome the unfavorable factors and even to turn them into favorable ones during his election campaign.By analyzing some of his key speeches throughout the campaign,we mean to show how Osama’s election marked yet another triumph of rhetoric over conventional thinking in politics.
