The Spiritual and Academic Path of Wai-lim Yip

叶维廉不断辗转于中西方之间,漂泊似乎成了他的宿命。他在从大陆到香港、从香港到台湾、从台湾到美国这看似不断流转的人生旅途中,逐渐形成了自己的人生追求和文化根底。正是这种文化根底的形成,才使得他能够在后来不断游走于文化边缘的时候,有着常人没有的逍遥与惬意。如果说叶维廉的前半生里的辗转还有着被放逐的悲凉味道的话,那么从台湾到美国,以及以后不断地来往于中西之间,则带有庄子的逍遥游的味道了。

Wai-lim Yip travelled between China and West continuously, it seemed to be his fate. While Travelling from the mainland to Hong Kong,then to Taiwan,Taiwan to America,he formed his own life goal and culture foundation gradually during this circulation of life journey. That＇s why he could take his time while migrating on the edge of culture. Wai-lim Yip was exiled dismally in his first half of life, however, when he came to America from Taiwan, travelled happily between east and west afterwards, he was just like the Zhuangzi.
