摘要
在对现代中国的命运及其文化的反省中,唐君毅发展了早期新儒家的理想,将对超越的理想和精神作为中国和西方文化的内在生命和源泉。他认为西方的宗教、科学精神和民主得益于那种对外在超越的追求,产生了丰硕的成果,但对理想的偏执也走向割裂和奴役。中国文化不等同于器物和自然主义等,在宋明儒的心性之学中也有一种内在的超越理想,它们成为中国道德生活和艺术的基础。中国应当学习西方的"方以智"的科学精神,其"圆而神"也可以补充西方的不足。
Reflecting on the traditional culture and society in modern China,Tang Junyi developed the Modern New Confucian scholars' ideal in which the transcendence was considered as the inner life of Chinese and Western Culture.He believed that the religion,science and democracy in the Western world benefited from seeking of the world of external transcendence,but they also had drawbacks.In ancient Chinese culture there was an inner transcendence,which influenced the moral life and art creation.Chinese people should learn the scientific approach while Western people also can study a lot from the Chinese tradition.
