"国民"话语是近代以来中国启蒙思潮演进的主题。如何在现代民族国家的框架内,培育具有现代民主意识的新国民,凝结了数代中国知识精英的智慧与探索。陈独秀在批判反思中国国民性问题的基础上,勾画了一幅现代公民的精神图像,提出了重构现代新国民的多重维度,开启了中国国民性论争的新篇章。

National discourse is an evolving theme of the enlightenment thoughts in modern China.Within the framework of modern nation-state,several generations of Chinese intellectual elites poured their wisdom and explored into cultivating new national consciousness of modern democracy.After the critical reflection on national issues,Chen Duxiu outlined a mental image of modern citizens,proposed multiple dimensions of modern national reconstruction,and opened a new chapter of the National Character Debate.
