Event extraction is an important research point in the area of information extraction.Recently,with the impulse of the evaluation conference,such as Automatic Content Extraction（ACE）,the research of event extraction acquires a series of theory and algorithms,and that excogitates some available systems.This paper describes the task,discusses the methods,the state of the art and the key technology,then summarizes the development of event extraction,and finally indicates the challenge and future direction of event extraction technology.
