Causes of War:Multiple Levels of Analysis

学者们为探索战争的起源做出了很大的努力,而这一领域的研究,呈现出较多的研究层次。本文从不同的研究层次:个体、组织、集团、阶级、国家直至国际体系层次出发寻找战争的起源。不同的研究层次对战争的起源有着相当不同的回答。多样化的研究层次也为我们提供了多样化的视角。我们难以找到由一个研究层次主导下的、解释战争起源的通论。在今后较长一段时间里,研究层次的多样性可能仍旧继续主导战争起源的研究。

War is an important issue in international security.Many scholars have made great efforts in exploring causes of war.These researches constitute multiple levels of analysis,from individual level,organizational level,group level,class level,state level to international system level.Different levels of analysis have various answers to this question.Diversified levels of analysis help us look at things from different perspectives.It is difficult to have a general theory,which is dominated by one level of analysis,in answering the causes of war.In the future,multiple levels of analysis will still dominate the research in this field.
