双语词典编纂质量亟待提高——以《新牛津英汉双解大词典》为例

The Quality of Bilingual Dictionaries Needs Improving:Taking The New Oxford English-Chinese Dictionary as An Example

词典是帮助人们正确理解和准确运用词汇的重要参考工具。双语词典更是帮助不同语言文化间的人们顺利实现跨语言文化交际的重要工具,是搭建在两种不同语言文化间沟通的桥梁。然而,目前双语词典的编纂质量却不容乐观。以《新牛津英汉双解大词典》为例,其中的部分译文存有瑕疵,大致归纳如下:(1)译文表述不符合汉语规范;(2)误读误译;(3)漏译;(4)错别字。

Dictionaries are important tools for people to understand and use words accurately. A bilingual dictionary is a bridge between two different languages and cultures, which help people to communicate smoothly. However, the quality of bilingual dictionaries is not so good. Taking The New Oxford English-Chinese Dictionary as an example, there are some translation flaws in it： unidiomatic Chinese expressions, mistranslations, missing translations and wrongly written Chinese characters.
