Tess＇ tragedy resucts from various factors,among which are her own personality,family background,society and fate that altogether bring her to a complete destruction.Nonetheless,＂Sexual politics＂ is an admittedly crucial one.It implements sexual rule,sexual oppression and discrimination,bringing about women＇s inescapable tragic fate.Parents are those who first made tomb figures——the creators of the tragedy by coercing her to claim noble kinship;Alec with power and wealth destroys her happiness of life by seducing her;Clare＇s abandonment of Tess gives her a final fatal blow,culminating in her despair.Accordingly,Tess＇ tragedy remains the consequence of ＂sexual politics＂.
