Mo-tse Thought of Technological Values

墨子是先秦时期少有的重视技术价值的思想家和科学家,其技术价值思想极其丰富和深邃,集中表现在五个方面:"赖其力者生"反映了技术的生存价值;"兴天下之利"反映了技术的社会价值;"博乎道术"体现了技术的职业价值;"为方以矩"彰显了技术的规范价值;"以作为述"反映了技术的知识价值、科学价值以及技术教育的传播价值。

Mo-tse is one of a few thinkers and scientists in earlier Qin Dynasty, whose thoughts of technological values are plenty and profound. The ideas include the fact that ＂hu- man is an animal who depends on his technological ability＂ shows existing value of technology for human;the fact that ＂technology benefits all the people＂ shows the social value for human; the fact that ＂technologists are good at technology＂ embodies the professional value for human; the fact that ＂both square and circle have its own criterion＂ reflects the standard value for hu- man;and the fact that ＂expressing technology by technology innovation＂ manifests knowledge value, scientific value of technology, and spreading value of technological education.
