Lao Tzu Tao Te Ching, written in ancient Chinese, is a piece of classical poem of philosophy. From the perspective of hermeneutics, this paper makes a comparison of two English version translated by Arthur Waley and Lin Yutang respectively. It argues that only by dialectically combining subjectivity and the limited space, a reasonable interpretation may occur, which plays an important role in the translation practice.
