Yesterday's Starry Sky:"World of Our Fathers" and the New York Intellectuals

具有相似文化背景的"纽约文人集群"是美国文化界的一批知识权贵,他们对20世纪的美国文学,尤其是文学批评产生巨大的影响。作为被拉塞尔·雅各比称之为"最后的知识分子",他们"书生意气,挥斥方遒"。这里,笔者将从文学与历史的角度去阐述早期东欧犹太人的艰难历程.从而揭示以欧文.豪为代表的纽约文人的思想与文学的根源以及他们之间的传承关系。

The New York Intellectuals were American aristocracies of talent in the cultural circles,and they have been making great effects to American Literature,especially to the literary criticism in the 20th century.These radical persons,called as ＂The Last Intellectuals＂ by Russell Jocoby,criticized the whole society filled with enthusiasm and boldly cast all restrains aside.In this paper,the researcher shows their rough emigration courses from the point of history and Literature,which are the origins of the thought and culture of the New York intellectuals.Irving Howe,who was an leading representative among them.Meanwhile,the researcher interpretates their inheritance relationships between them,too.
