Sino-Japanese relations in early Ming Dynasty Focus on the communication between Song Lian and Japanese Monks

明代翰林大学士宋濂以文著称,名扬海外。明代的日本来华僧中不少利用来华之便,慕名向宋濂求取墨宝。宋濂为日本高僧所作文章,数量虽然不多,但却是研究明初中日关系不可忽略的内容。这些文章,不仅蕴含宋濂的佛教思想,也反映了明初中日关系的一个侧面。

Song Lian was very influential in both political and cultural life of the early Ming Dynasty.As a distinguished Confucianist,Song Lian also studied Buddhism and was well-known overseas because of his outstanding accomplishments in literature and Buddhism.The monks who are attracted by his fame came from different places to require him to their collections of essays and write inscriptions for towers and steles.It was in such a way that Japanese monks requested Song Lian to write articles for them.These articles not only contain his Buddhist thought,but also reflect the prudent attitude of senior courtiers toward diplomatic relations with Japan in the early Ming Dynasty.
