As competition is introduced in the telecom environment, the management of the numbering resources has been gradually taken over by the telecom regulatory departments from the incumbent carriers. The regulators mainly take charge of policy-making, number-management-and-allocation-principle making, etc. Number allocation and utilization will be more focused on the efficient utilization of resources and the introduction of competition via recompense or auction of numbers. The practice in some countries is introduced and the price of various numbers in Finland is shown in a table.
