王维《鸟鸣涧》"人闲桂花落"中的桂花意象究属何指,历来颇受关注。一般有两种解析:一是指代月光,一是实指桂花。有论者谓,指代月光与后句"月出惊山鸟"意象有重复之嫌,若实指桂花则又谓春天不当有桂花开放。又有人别出蹊径,认为此桂花只代表隐逸之志。从王维创作特点和该诗的语境看,实指桂花不合逻辑,代表隐逸之志实属下解,指称月光才是最合理的解释,不必刻意翻新,以深释浅。
