Sherman Alexie's novel Reservation Blues represents a coalition between American Indians,African Americans, and American Whites.Alexie appropriates the "Ghost Dance",pertaining to the Lakota Sioux,to generalize the history of one specific Indian tribe and achieves the coalition between all lndian tribes,i.e.pan-Indianism.In Reservation Blues, members of the Spokane,Flathead, and Lakota form a pan-Indian coalition.Alexie also snggests an interracial coalition between African Americans and Native Americans by magically bringing a late African American Blues musician to the Spokane Indian Reservation.Alexie suggests a racial complementarity pattern,in which the two races coexist as equal entities that complement each other,to form the Indian-White coalition.
