Shanghai Expo Diplomacy: Promoting Sino-Africa Relations

上海世博会是在世界金融危机推动国际秩序变革、各国在新形势下加速战略调整、频繁互动、合作与竞争并存的时代背景下举办的。世博会不仅是一场国际顶级博览会,更是一次外交盛会,是各国开展公共外交的绝佳平台。本届世博会是第一次在发展中国家举行,又正值中国快速发展,得到了包括广大非洲国家在内世界各国的广泛关注和积极参与。非洲国家对上海世博会的广泛参与,不仅有助于加深中国公众对非洲的了解与思考,也有助于增强非洲国家的集体认同及对中国发展模式和理念的理解。中非通过在世博会平台的密切交流与合作,极大地增进了双方人民间友谊,有力地推动中非在政治、经济和文化等多领域的合作与发展。

Shanghai Expo 2010 is held under the background of changing in international order promoting by world financial crisis, accelerating of the strategic adjustment under new situation, frequent interaction in the coexistence of cooperation and competition among countries. Expo is not only a top international fair but also a diplomatic event for nations to conduct public diplomacy. Shanghai Expo is held in the first time in a developing country, a time when China’s rapid development, attracting attention and active participation of the world, including the majority of African countries. The broad participation in Shanghai Expo from African countries will not only help understanding of Africa in Chinese public, but also deepen African’s understanding and conception of China’s development model. The close exchanges and cooperation through the platform of Shanghai Expo will greatly enhance the friendship between China and Africa, which will also promote cooperation and development in political, economic, cultural and various fields among them.
