A model system for the relationship between parasitoid and its host was established by microoperation to study the effects of polydnavirus and venom from female parasitoid, teratocytes from parasitoid larva and the larva itself on the growth of the host. The results showed that polydnavirus plus venom could not simulate the phenomena of parasitism although they arrested the host development which exhibited host integument decoloration and inability of pupation. However, polydnavirus and venom plus teratocytes could simulate the developmental patterns of parasitized host. The development of the host was inhibited significantly. The model system is an effective method for studying the relationship between parasitoid and its host.
