Shear pins are set for turbine distrbutors to work as the safety protection elements for the gate operation mechanism. If there is blockage between guide wanes, and the operating torque of the driving parts is rapidly increased, the shear pins break to protect other driving parts. But it would be abnormal if there are frequent breakings with the shear pins during operation of power plants, which will certainly disrupt the normal operation of the units. So it is of guiding significance to analyze the reason of frequent breaking and to take aetions to guarantee the stable and reliable operalion of the units.
