从对中国文化遗存、古老亲属制度及传说和古代文献的考证分析来看,中国婚姻形态与礼制同世界上其他民族一样起源于血亲婚配的乱伦禁忌和嫁娶风俗,历经了群婚制、对偶婚制的演变。到了周代,一夫一妻制婚姻制度和"六礼"婚姻便基本形成。"周礼"中有关婚姻制度、伦理和礼仪的思想奠定了中国传统婚姻礼制的基本内容和价值导向。

From the Chinese cultural heritages,ancient kinship system and legends and the textual analysis of ancient literature view,Chinese marriage patterns and etiquette,as well as those of other ethnic groups in the world,originated from incest taboo of consanguineous marriage and marriage customs.After the evolution from communal marriage to pairing marriage,monogamous marriage system and Six Rituals of marriage had been established by Chou Dynasty.The thoughts of marriage system,ethics and etiquette in the Chou Rituals lay a solid foundation for the basic contents and value orientation of Chinese traditional marriage etiquette.
