PON（passive optical network） is a kind of access network technology providing full services and meeting user＇s requirements of high bandwidth,and it is a good access means for solving the bottleneck of ＇last kilometer＇.This paper introduces the technology,characteristics,advantages and development potential of PON,and discusses application strategy of PON technology in China Railway Communication Networks.
