摘要 Vermicular graphite cast iron (VG iron for short in the following sections) is a type of cast iron in which the graphite is intermediate in shape between flake and spheroidal. Compared with the normal flake graphite in grey iron, the graphite in VG iron is shorter and thicker and shows a curved, more rounded shape. Because its outer contour is exactly like a worm, hence it is called vermicular graphite. Since the compactness of the graphite (i.e. the ratio of width/length, d/t) in VG iron is far higher than that in grey iron, it is also called compacted graphite. Considering both names, this type of graphite is often referred to as C/V graphite internationally. Note:This book consists of five sections: Chapter 1 Introduction, Chapter 2 Grey Iron,Chapter 3 Spheroidal GraphiteCast Iron,Chapter 4 Vermicular Graphite Cast Iron, and Chapter 5 White Cast Iron.CHINA FOUNDRY publishes thisbook in several parts serially, starting from the first issue of 2009.
