Observation on the Biological Characteristics of Neoscona theisi Walckenaer

茶色新园蛛(Neoscona theisi Walckenaer)在鲁东南沿海地区1年发生1代,以不同龄若蛛和亚成蛛在松针基部、翘皮下、杂草丛中越冬。翌年4月上旬开始出蛰,5月下旬羽化成蛛,6月上旬交配产卵。卵期平均7.74天,若蛛平均345.3天,成蛛期平均61.7天。雌雄比为4:1。成蛛日均食小绿叶蝉4.5头,网捉量46.7头,是多种害虫的重要天敌。

Neoscona theisi Walckenaer has one generation a year in southeast littoral of Shandong,China.Overwinter takes place as larvae or inferior adults at the base of pine needles,between the upwarpings or in weeds.Emergence occurs in early April the next year,imagines occurs in late May.Mating and oviposition occur in early June.The incubation period is 7.74 days.The life cycle of the larva is 345.3 days.The life span of the adult spider is 61.7 days.Male and female are in a ratio of four to one.An adult spider can eat 4.5 head of Empoasca flavescens（Fab.） and 46.7 head of insect pests on the web altogether a day.
