Since the styles of fashion are very changeable and the pattern structures are quite different from style to style, these increase the difficulty of the garment pattern grading. It is important to study on the principles of the pattern grading and seek for the new grading method for the fashion industry. Based on the principles of the pattern grading and pattern structures, this paper has introduced the basic pattern into the pattern grading and summarized the relations of the constant and proportion between the basic patterns and the style patterns, and sums up common principles and basic method of pattern grading. The new method could be applied to the pattern grading of various style of fashion.
