A new anode baking kiln is described. The concept combines modified features of the vertical Flue(VF) and the Horizontal Flue(HF) ring furnaces with improved capacity, reduced energy consumption and simple adjustment of operational characteristics. Besides reviewing basic design features, the new burner and fully atttomatic control system, as well as operational parameters are discussed. Results from a comprehensive plant test program are summarized.
