Conceptual Fluency in the Translation of Chinese Classical Poetry:A Case Study of Li Bai's Song Youren

古汉诗英译始于一个多世纪前,随之而来的译文评论也从未间断过。本文尝试从达内西和莫利卡(Danesi&Mollica)提出的概念流利理论对古汉诗英译进行评论,通过分析和比较李白《送友人》原诗的蕴涵与译诗的蕴涵,从而得出无论是词汇层面还是句法层面译诗都应尽量与原诗的概念底层结构相匹配,给译文读者带来与原文读者相类似的感受,这样才能达到译文与原文的概念流利。

The translation of the classical Chinese poetry into English has been going on for more than a century and so has the criticism on the English versions thereof.The paper,taking Li Bai＇s Song Youren for a case study,tends to approach the translation of the classical Chinese poetry from the perspective of conceptual fluency theory advanced by Danesi and Mollica.By comparing the entailments in the original poem with those in the English versions,the author argues that the English version is supposed to conform to the original poem conceptually,be it on the lexical level or on the syntactic level so as to strike the target reader similarly as what the original poem does on the Chinese reader.And by so doing,the translator has reached the conceptual fluency.
