论《儒林外史》的叙事时间

Discussion on the Narrative Time of The Scholars

主要从自古及今、百年瞬间、季节更替三个角度论述《儒林外史》的叙事时间。《儒林外史》中多次运用"自古及今",体现了古今同一的循环时间观;"百年"与"瞬间"的两极性时空操作,给中国古典小说文体带来了深刻的变革;季节的更替则体现着人生经验的起落沉浮和芸芸众生的荣枯盛衰。通过以上解读,我们发现,《儒林外史》的叙事时间一方面吸收了传统古典小说的优秀成果,另一方面又有所超越,形成自己的特色。

This article mainly discusses the narrative time of the book The Scholars from three aspects： from the ancient times to the present,the time of a century and an instant;the replacing of seasons.In the book,the writer describes things using the technique of ＂from ancient time to present＂,embodying the circling time view which means the present and ancient are identical.The handling of time ＂of a century and aninstant＂ brings about profound changes to the classical Chinese novels.The replacing of seasons shows the ups and downs of various characters.From these analysis,it can be found that The Scholars inherits merits of classical novels on one hand and surpasses them with its own distinctive features on the other.
