Is China's Agricultural Sector Becoming More Productive?

摘要 Given Chinas limited land and an increasingly rich urban population that seems to like to eat, few things are more important to the country than productivity in the agricultural sector. The productivity miracle that has taken place in Chinas factories is well documented - advanced machinery has been imported; China's agricultural sector is,surprisingly, seeing quite a high rate of productivity growth. Most of this comes from technical improvements;however, farming efficiency lags. Fruit, vegetable and meat farming are not restricted by land scarcity. Grain output growth will struggle to keep pace with urban demand growth;this is likely to boost corn imports soon.
