Linguistic philosophers analyze particularly the meaning features of spatial demonstratives.Researchers in the fields of pragmatics and discourse analysis discuss the uses,textual functions,grammaticalizations of spatial demonstratives and the factors affecting their choice.In the field of traditional linguistics,the explorations of spatial demonstratives include such aspects of origins,syntactic features and English-Chinese comparison.In the field of cognitive psychology,researchers endeavor to reveal,from the aspects of attention,accessibility and so on,the mental states in the process of using and comprehending spatial demonstratives.The previous studies still have limitations and more explanatory and empirical studies are expected in the future.
