A Study on the Material Character of the "Xiongqu Granting Three Sons" Recorded in Chushijia of Shiji

结合相关文献材料和研究成果,本文分析了《史记.楚世家》所记载的熊渠封三子的史料性质,认为三子之王号最初可能仅是尊称或神号,经过长期的演化和整合,形成了三子皆称王的说法,并被《史记》吸纳和沿用,成为《楚世家》的一部分。

Based on related documents and researches, the author analyzes the inscription of＂ Xiongqu entitled kings to three sons＂, which is recorded in Chushijia （the Chu Noble Family） of Shiji （Records of Grand Historian）, concludes that the king titles were initially initially were only honorary or divining titles; however, through a long period of historic interpretations, the three sons were consid- ered to be real kings and this view was also adopted by Sima Qian and was recorded in his Shiji.
