Discussion the Scholarly Feature of Wen Tingshi

文廷式晚清著名的政治家、思想家、诗人、词人和史学家,被钱仲联先生赞为"晚清学者开派标宗者"。在晚清中、西,新、旧诸学交汇激宕的大时代背景下,始终坚持自己特立独行和通达的治学风格,在调和汉、宋,持平古、今,会通中西诸学的基础上,取宏用精,萃取新、旧和中、西诸学之所长,在宗教史和比较宗教学,史学以及诗词上,均能独树一帜,开新启后。

As a famous statesman,thinker,poet and historian in late Qing dysnasty,Wen Tingshi is praised as ＂a pioneer in late Qing＇s scholars＂ by Mr.Qian Zhonglian.In a great era when Chinese learning and western learning,new learning and old knowledge were clapping,he could forever stick to the independent character and understanding studying manner.On the basis of regulating Han and Song Dynasty,making an impartial statement of ancient and modern time and mastering Chinese and western learning,he could use the good items.Also he could make an unprecedented example in history of religion,comparative religion,historiography and poems.
